Wednesday, 31 May, 2017 | lesley

We are pleased to confirm that the conference speakers are now confirmed. The Early Bird discounts apply to bookings received on or before 30 August 2017.

A full programme for the event will follow but here are the highlights:

Keynote address:

The keynote address will be given by Caoilfhionn Gallagher QC, of Doughty Street Chambers. Caoilfhionn is a leading barrister in Public Law, Human Rights and Civil Liberties. She has acted in a number of varied, high profile cases. She has particular expertise in prison law, children’s rights and inquest law. She acted for the bereaved families in the 7/7 London bombings inquests and for some of the Hillsborough families. She has dealt with a series of cases concerning domestic violence/stalking victims who died following inaction or inadequate action by the police. Much of her judicial review work concerns vulnerable children.

Janys Scott QC will deliver the case law round up this year.

Other confirmed speakers include child psychologist, Kirsty Dalrymple, Julian Aitken and Lynda Brabender. There will also be a representative of the civil service in Scotland, Nicola Wiesdahl, setting out the legal implications for family lawyers arising from Brexit.

The popular Advocates’ Question Time will take place on the Saturday morning. The panellists are Lynda Brabender, Alan Inglis and Scott McAlpine. Members are invited to send any questions to jennifergallagher@lindsays.co.uk.

The conference counts for 6 hours 30 minutes of CPD.
